What is a QSD?
A Queensland Sustainability Declaration is a compulsory checklist that must be completed by the seller (vendor/ homeowner) when selling a house, townhouse (class 1a building) or unit (class 2 building) from 1 January 2010.
However, if a seller is unable to complete the form, they can seek help from another person or engage the services of an Accredited Assessor such as Green Forms to complete the SD on their behalf. However, the seller must sign the declaration.
The Sustainability Declaration will inform buyers about the sustainability features of a property and identify the home’s environmental and social sustainability features in four key areas:
- Energy
- Water
- Safety
- Access
The more sustainability features a home has, can increase the marketability of the property and can save money on lower operating costs, be more energy efficient and waterwise.
These homes can use less energy for cooling and heating and generate fewer greenhouse gas emissions.
